Powered by Doyle Stratis 1100 CT sails, Hall carbon mast, head sail electric furler and rod rigging, this Swan 58 is equipped with over 500k euro of high-standard Nautor Swan owner options/extras (See full specification/Additional info.).
The Swan 58 has a well-proven and successful canoe body design concept; powerful, well-balanced and sea kindly shape that would be safe and a pleasure to sail. A true Blue Water yacht intended to sail in comfort anywhere in the world, the forward sections have been softened with the idea of giving her a softer ride upwind against the sea normally encountered in force 4/5 wind conditions.
The final length was settled after a thorough study of the interior volume of this new model, as required to fit three full-size en suite cabins plus on this Swan 58-009 a fourth pullman. There is a comfortable saloon, and ample galley, together with the space necessary to fit all the complements and machinery required by today's high standards of living.
Thanks to the relatively long coach roof, large window areas, numerous hatches, the hull ports and full headroom throughout there is a feeling inside the 58 of being in a much larger luminous, well-ventilated yacht. On the other hand, the freeboard is lower than the norm. She is elegant and sleek.
The anchor on this Nautor Swan 58 is stowed on the integral bowsprit and the windlass on a special watertight compartment below deck.
On deck there is the typical array of winches close to the cockpit and the double steering positions on this Nautor Swan 58. The cockpit sports twin tables surrounded by more than 2 meters long L-shaped settees. At the forward end of the uncluttered coach roof there is a dedicated sun-bed.
Complete with Tender (See full specification/Additional info.).
Owners Comments
SHINE was conceived in my bunk as we crashed off another wave in my IRC 46 Pata Negra. We were going upwind in the North Sea during the 2018 Round Britain race, every crash felt like the boat was going to break to bits. Four years later I was back in the North Sea heading up the Norwegian coast in 30 knots+ with a barely a whisper to be heard down below!
In her first season I sailed SHINE from the yard in Finland round Sweden to Norway back to cruise the Swedish Archipelago and then back to Copenhagen where she spent the Winter. In her second season we went to Gothenburg then up the Norwegian coast to Lofoten and the Arctic circle and back. She has spent the winter in a shed in Sweden and is now in Hamble, England. Much of this was done two handed.
SHINE has top of the range Doyle sails which still look brand new. The main is fully battened with 3 reefs and a split track on the mast to reduce the stack height. I m afraid I still don t trust in-boom furling, I ve heard too many horror stories when it goes wrong! The mast is Hallspars which is an 80k upgrade but worth every penny for the stiffness, weight saving and quality. The Genoa halyard finishes on a track on the mast to avoid slippage and halyard wear. It is on an electric furler in the bow, this was a later upgrade as the rope to an electric winch aft failed a few times. The Staysail is on a halyard lock, continuous furler and a hydraulic ram, as it is also a Doyle structured luff sail the luff tension is excellent! A storm jib replaces it on the same halyard. For downwind sails there is an A3 on a furler and I also have a pole and symmetric spinnaker for sailing deeper angles. For an Atlantic crossing on a boat of this weight I think being able to sail straight downwind is essential. The Genoa and staysail have enough separation that they can be used together. I added a padeye to the toerail for an outboard sheet lead. From 40 60 AWA this is the best set up and she ll do 12-14 knots.
SHINE has 600k of upgrades from the Standard Spec which are mainly: Flag Blue hull ( 50k), Hull windows ( 8.4k), Carbon gangway ( 3k), Staysail cars ( 4.6k), Dinghy handling system ( 5.7k), Nomen cleats ( 11k), Cushions, covers, interior upgrades ( 32k), Fourth bunk cabin ( 12.5k) Watermaker ( 20k), Quooker ( 3k), Air Conditioning ( 42k), Heating ( 11k), Stacked Fridge ( 10k) Lithium batteries, inverter and generator upgrades ( 31k), Dishwasher, washing machine and electric stove ( 10k) Exterior lighting ( 3k), B&G instruments, autopilot, satphone and stereo ( 87k) Hallspars mast, staysail set up, spinnaker pole, checkstays ( 140k), Doyle sails ( 100k). Elecrtic Genoa furler ( 16k)
SHINE s hull is painted with Coppercoat, Swan won t do it so this was done in Sweden, its an expensive process that has to be done right. I lifted her in Sweden and flew a specialist from the UK. I ve had it on 4 boats now, in my opinion it s the only antifouling that works, all it needs is a pressure wash once a year and the hull stays completely clean ( 15k).
I had the RIB specially made by Conrad Pischel in Germany, its 3.2m with a deep aluminium hull and fits perfectly. If you re anchoring any distance from shore this will take 6 people ashore dry. The transom of the boat is on a track which allows the outboard to fold inside the boat for stowage. Initially I had a 25HP outboard so I could use it for wakeboarding but I found it a bit heavy so I changed it for a 10HP, happy to swap it back if you prefer. ( 16k).
I have now taken delivery of a McConaghy 75 Catamaran, I thought I would be retired by now and would have time for both but unfortunately that hasn t happened yet so she s sadly for sale! With the greatest respect to Swan no boat leaves a yard perfect and as this boat has now had 2 years of fixing warranty and snagging issues under the eyes of a meticulous skipper I would describe her condition as better than new!
